The 5 most beautiful beaches near Casa Calma (and how to enjoy each one)

The 5 most beautiful beaches near Casa Calma (and how to enjoy each one)

Beaches on the Costa del Sol are not all the same.

Some are lively and social.
Some are quiet and wide open.
Some are perfect for families.
Others are ideal for long walks, early swims, or sunset moments.

Staying at Casa Calma puts you in a unique position: you’re close to several very different beaches, allowing you to choose based on mood, time of day, and who you’re traveling with.

Below are our top 5 favourite beaches near Casa Calma (each for a different reason) and how to enjoy them the right way.

1) Playa del Saladillo | Calm, spacious, and beautifully local

If you’re looking for a beach that feels relaxed, authentic, and never overwhelming, this is the one.

Playa del Saladillo is wide, open, and peaceful. Even in busier months, it rarely feels crowded, making it perfect for slow beach days.

Why we love it

  • plenty of space
  • calm atmosphere
  • ideal for swimming and walking
  • great for couples and families

Time to get there: 8 min drive or 50 minute walk
Perfect for: relaxed beach days without noise

2) Playa de Guadalmina | Openness and long walks

This beach feels a little wilder and more natural, especially outside peak summer. The shoreline is more rugged, with small pebbles and a raw Mediterranean character. Not a polished resort beach, but more natural. It's also the nearest beach to Casa Calma.

Playa de Guadalmina is ideal if you love:

  • long shoreline walks
  • space to breathe
  • seaside promenade strolls with charming restaurants and relaxed lunch spots

It’s not our favorite to go for a beach day but it's definitely our favourite for runs, morning walks and sunset strolls, when the light turns golden and the sea feels almost untouched.

Why we love it

  • less developed
  • great for walking, running, bicycling (on the promenade) and thinking
  • beautiful light in the late day
  • direct access to the promenade with cosy chiringuitos and restaurants

One of our favourite places here is Sonora Beach. This is a relaxed beachfront lunch spot with a relaxed vibe. In certain months, you can also rent sunbeds and parasols here, making it a lovely place to spend a slow afternoon by the sea.

Time to get there: 5 min drive or 20 minute walk

Parking tip: You can park your car in front of Sonora Beach.

Perfect for: walkers, runners, and quiet beach lovers

3) Playa de San Pedro de Alcántara | Wide, pleasant and alive

Playa de San Pedro de Alcántara has a more polished and spacious feel, with a wide sandy shoreline and one of the most pleasant promenades in the area.

It’s a great balance between relaxed and lively, especially during the day when locals walk, cycle, or stop for coffee along the boulevard.

Playa de San Pedro is ideal if you love:

  • wide sandy beaches
  • an easy walk along a well-kept promenade
  • beach bars and restaurants within reach
  • a bit more atmosphere without feeling crowded

The long boulevard is lined with palm trees, playgrounds, cafés, and chiringuitos. Perfect for a slow (afternoon) walk that naturally ends with lunch or a sunset drink.

Why we love it

  • perfect for sunbathing
  • lively but still relaxed
  • great mix of locals and visitors
  • beautiful mountain backdrop on clear days

This is Estepona’s main town beach, stretching along the promenade.

  • walking straight from beach to lunch
  • combining swimming with town life
  • a lively but friendly atmosphere

It’s especially enjoyable outside high summer, when the pace feels relaxed and local.

Why we love it

  • very wide beach
  • easy access to cafés and restaurants
  • beautiful promenade walks
  • perfect for combining beach + town

  • a more natural setting

It feels slightly removed from the urban coast and is perfect if you want a change of scenery.

Why we love it

  • great for swimming and relaxing

How to choose the right beach (depending on your day)

Instead of always going to the same beach, use this simple logic:

  • Want calm & space? Saladillo or Guadalmina
  • With kids? Playa de Cabopino or Playa de la Rada
  • Beach + lunch + town life? Playa de la Rada
  • Going for a nice walk? San Pedro de Alcántara (walk to Puerto Banús in 40 minutes along the sea)
  • Nature & wow-factor? Cabopino

That flexibility is one of the hidden luxuries of staying near Casa Calma.

The Casa Calma beach rhythm

The best beach days here don’t try to last forever.

A perfect Casa Calma beach day:

  • relaxed morning
  • beach visit (2–3 hours)
  • lunch
  • return home before exhaustion
  • pool, terrace, or rest
  • sunset walk or dinner

That’s how beach days stay enjoyable, especially with kids or longer stays.

When beaches are at their best

Like many things on the Costa del Sol, beaches are at their best:

  • spring
  • autumn
  • winter (for walks and light swims)

Fewer people, better light, more space and a calmer rhythm that fits Casa Calma perfectly.

Beaches are everywhere on the Costa del Sol, but not all stays give you this kind of choice and balance.

Casa Calma places you close to some of the region’s most beautiful beaches, while giving you a peaceful home to return to after each one.

Book Casa Calma and experience the coast the way it’s meant to be experienced: varied, relaxed, and deeply enjoyable.
